USFWS and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IADNR) have a signed Memorandum of Understanding for the management of the Iowa Wetland Management District Waterfowl Production Areas (WPAs). This agreement authorizes the Department to utilize funds to manage and restore wetland prairie habitats for the Service. These WPAs typically share borders with state wildlife properties and both agencies share similar, Prairie Pothole Joint Venture goals. This project will restore wetland basins critical for the life cycles of wetland dependent migratory bird species.
