Upper Midwest and Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), Midwest Region, intends to issue a Single Source Grant Agreement Award without competition to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to support a project investigating the balance between aquatic barrier removal and lampricide application as combined invasive sea lamprey control methods. This project work will advance the understanding of the biological and economic implications and tradeoffs of controlling invasive sea lamprey across the Great Lakes basin via barriers and chemical treatments. The work is a continuation and expansion of a previously supported project by the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative (UMGL LCC) titled, Optimizing connectivity in the Great Lakes basin to restore native fish migrations while controlling invasive species.
