Trinity River Fisheries: Run Size Survey

 

The Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region, intends to award a sole-source Cooperative Agreement, to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, under the authority of CFDA 15.512, Central Valley Project Improvement Act, Public Law 102-575, Section 3406 (b)(1) and 3407 (e) on the following program: Trinity River Fisheries: Run Size Survey. The purpose of this project is to (1) conduct surveys and produce annual spawner escapement, harvest and run size estimates for Trinity River basin spring and fall-run Chinook, Coho salmon and fall steelhead; (2) estimate survival and contributions to spawner escapements made by Coho salmon produced at Trinity River Hatchery; (3) estimate survival and contributions to the in-river sport fisheries and spawner escapements made by spring- and fall-run Chinook salmon produced at Trinity River Hatchery; (4) participate in a cooperative salmon spawner survey and determine size, sex, and hatchery composition, pre-spawning mortality to report annual natural to hatchery fishery resource success; (5) conduct angler creel surveys in the Lower Klamath to determine how the Trinity River Restoration Program (TRRP) activities contribute to the sport and commercial fisheries enjoyed by the public; and (6) compile fisheries information into a summary report; participate in Trinity Management Council (TMC) meetings and TMC technical meetings. Period of Performance is from the date of award to June 30, 2018. Estimate amount: $892,383 (total estimated project amount $4,562,137). A determination by the government not to compete this proposed financial assistance based upon Departmental Manual 505 DM 2 is solely within the discretion of the government.
