Teacher Symposium on the War of 1812

 

This is NOT a request for applications. This notice is to simply announce that an award has already been given to the Montpelier Foundation. The purpose of this task agreement is to provide project funding in FY 2013 for cooperatively developing and implementing a Teacher Symposium on the War of 1812. This program will provide information and curriculum materials about the War of 1812 and its Constitutional issues to educators who will carry back curriculum development information to their schools to develop educational programs for the period of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and beyond. This education will expand educator exposure to and experience on the Star-Spangled Banner NHT. The Montpelier Foundation agrees to: 1. Direct the Center for the Constitution to conduct a 5-day/4-night long residential program for educators focused on the War of 1812 and the constitutional issues of the time. 2. Coordinate and provide transportation off-site visits to partner and NPS sites along the Star-Spangled Banner NHT. 3. Provide educators with a workshop packet and several books/materials to help them become mentor/trainers for fellow educators on the history, causes and consequence of the War of 1812 when they return to their home schools.
