Supporting Implementation of the National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan (NSP) through Improving Coverage and Quality of HIV and AIDS Services and Strengthening Health Systems in Malawi under the President¿' Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

Malawi has recorded some successes in its HIV program. The HIV prevalence rate has declined from 12% in 2004 to 10.6% in 2010. HIV and AIDS related deaths have also declined from 92,000 in 2005 to 46,000. This FOA is a follow on to the cooperative agreement with the Ministry of Health (MOH), which is ending on 30th March 2015, to continue supporting the MOH in its role in leading the biomedical response to HIV and AIDS covering the first three strategic themes in the National HIV and AIDS Prevention Strategy (NSP) 2011-2016. The goals of this award are to continue increasing access to quality and comprehensive HIV services in Malawi and strengthen comprehensive HIV services across the continuum of care from prevention to treatment, with an emphasis on improved referrals and linkages.
