The Department of State's Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) is pleased to announce a Request for Applications (RFA) through an open competition for grant awards. CSO aims to mitigate the risk of large-scale violence in Burundi in the lead up to, during, and after the 2015 election period. This RFA includes three distinct lines of effort that address the risk of violence in Burundi by (1) engaging local youth leaders, particularly political party youth wings; (2) community stakeholders; and (3) regional and national political elites. Applicants may apply to one, two, or all three lines of effort and will not be evaluated on the number of lines of effort to which they apply. The selection and award process will occur independently for each line of effort. CSO expects to award a total of up to $2.4 million for three 12 to 18 month long projects. CSO seeks to fund organizations that are currently operational or have recent experience working in Burundi. Organizations should have strong existing relationships with relevant local partners, stakeholders, and administrators. Prior experience relevant to the themes illustrated in the programs outlined in this RFA will also be favorably considered.
