Shasta River Coho Salmon Enhancement and Collaboration Pilot Project

 

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) intends to issue a grant agreement to California Trout, Inc. under the authority of catalog for domestic assistance 15.517, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, 16 U.S.C. Section 661-667e and Department Manual 255 DM 1.1B. Project Title: Shasta River Coho Salmon Enhancement and Collaboration Pilot Project. The total estimated amount of agreement is $366,175.00. Reclamation proposes to fund this project for the improvement of water quality and in stream flows in the Shasta River Watershed by leasing water from landowners, on a voluntary basis, during strategic times of the year to benefit coho and Fall Chinook salmon. Leasing water will protect cold water rearing habitats for coho during specific times for the year and provide flows to assist in salmon migration to spawning ground and/or refugia. (Refer to the Notice of Intent to Award Announcement No. R14AN20054 for additional information) A Determination by the Government not to compete this proposed financial assistance based upon Departmental Manual 505 DM 2, paragraph 2.14(B)(4) is solely within the discretion of the Government.
