The US Fish and Wildlife, Region 1 (FWS) is required to meet national standards in delivering coordination of conservation efforts in the North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC). Created by Secretarial Order, the NPLCC is one of 21 national cooperatives established to promote cooperation and collaboration across major landscapes among federal and non-federal entities. The work is to improve natural resource conservation and management to address climate change and other major system stressors. Working in partnership with other agencies and organizations, the NPLCC will work to build Federal and non-federal partnerships in which new and existing science will be developed shared and employed to inform natural resource conservation actions that provide mitigation of and adaptation to the effects of climate change. Because non-federal entitles such as State and Tribal governments must be recruited as key partners to the NPLCC, a coordinator with strong state government experience, in the areas of natural resource and environmental management, will be an asset in identifying the challenges and opportunities in bringing those non-federal entities into a lasting partnership.
