Pilot testing methods to advance the development of a non-breeding season tidal marsh bird sampling protocol
Funds under this award are to be used to advance the development of a non-breeding season tidal marsh bird protocol with a focus on sparrows and rails, but capacity to collect data on other marsh specialist species. We will build on our prior experiences working in the northeast, the southeast, and along the Gulf Coast during the nonbreeding season and test sampling methods to estimate bird abundances and coefficients of variation, document logistical challenges, and estimate sampling costs to provide the foundation for developing a specific sampling protocol.
