Phase II Innovation Award for Mechanistic Studies to Optimize Mind and Body Interventions in NCCIH High Priority Research Topics (R33)

 

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to strengthen our understanding and utilization of the underlying mechanisms and processes associated with mind and body interventions.This FOA will support mechanistic studies of complementary or integrative mind and body interventions in human subjects (e.g. meditation, spinal manipulation, massage, yoga, tai chi, hypnosis, acupuncture).Studies supported by this FOA will utilize the results from prior mechanistic studies to improve, refine, enhance, or strengthen the proposed mechanisms or processes through rigorous validation and refinement of the intervention, or using combined approaches that, together, will modulate the underlying mechanism or process.Studies supported by this FOA should also be able to provide preliminary evidence that the mechanism or process modulated by the intervention is associated with a functional outcome or clinical benefit for a specific condition or disorder.
