OVC FY 15 Language Access Training and Technical Assistance Program

 

OVC will make one award of up to $1,000,000 to a national-scope organization to enhance training, technical assistance, public awareness, and capacity building resources on language access for victim service providers and allied professionals. The objectives of this program are to improve access to services for victims who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, or who have limited English proficiency; increase victim service providers' and allied professionals' understanding of their legal and ethical obligations related to language access; and produce high-quality training and technical assistance and products to improve language access. Those applying are urged to begin in advance of the June 24, 2015, deadline.

Who is eligible to apply/benefit from this assistance?
Applicant Eligibility
Eligible applicants are limited to private for-profit, nonprofit, faith-based, and community organizations (including tribal organizations); institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education); and public agencies (including federally recognized Indian tribal governments, as determined by the Secretary of the Interior), that can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of language access issues Eligible applicants must also have the staff resources and capability to develop or enhance national-scope resources for the crime victimsâ₏™ field or allied professionals in the area of language access. A private nonprofit organization does not need to have 501(c)(3) status to apply for grant funding under this solicitation. OVC may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations.
