Outfitting of Computer Labs at Public University Women?s Dormitories in Afghanistan

 

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul announces an open competition for registered Afghan and international non-profit, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for an award to furnish, equip, and install computer labs in womenÂ’s dormitories on the campuses of Herat University, Balkh University, and Kabul University. A successful proposal will demonstrate the technical ability to design and implement network structures, as well as experience in network architecture, network devices, and configuring internal systems such as routers and firewalls. It will include detailed specifications on the network design and equipment required to operate LAN-based computer labs with numerous workstations, to integrate DVC equipment in separate locations, and to sustain sufficient Wi-Fi capabilities throughout the dormitories.

Who is eligible to apply/benefit from this assistance?
Applicant Eligibility
Eligibility is open to all Afghan and international non-profit, Non-Government Organizations with direct experience in: o procuring and operating Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and equipment; o managing budgets and human resources; o working in Afghanistan, especially with vendors, suppliers, contractors, etc.; o working with Afghan government institutions, particularly the Ministry of Higher Education and Afghan public universities, in ICT education projects; o working successfully in Kabul, Herat, and Mazar-e Sharif is preferable. Organizations must demonstrate current country registration license, competent programmatic ability and be able to meet reporting requirements. Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-government entity can be the prime recipient of the award. For profit entitles are not eligible to be the prime recipient of an award under this RFGP.
