Notice of Intent to Award

 

THERE IS NO "FULL ANNOUNCEMENT" ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE, AS this is a Notice of Intent to award a Cooperative Agreement between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Sudbury Valley Trustees, Inc. for the purpose of implementing a restoration project selected through the Restoration Plan and Environmental Assessment for the Nyanza Chemical Waste Dump Superfund Site. This single source award is being made in accordance with Department of the Interior Policy 505 DM 2.14 B (4), which allows for award without competition to an applicant who is uniquely qualified to perform the activity based on a number of criteria, in this case including location, cost-sharing ability, property ownership, and technical expertise. The scope of work for the award was selected under the Restoration Plan and entails restoring grassland habitat on fields owned by the Sudbury Valley Trustees and the Town of Wayland, Massachusetts. . Substantial involvement on the part of the USFWS is anticipated for the successful completion of the objectives to be funded. The Service will work closely with SVT to promote and implement the restoration project. The Federal Project Officer, in combination with biologists from Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, are expected to provide guidance and technical assistance in the design and development of the project, and providing oversight and coordination with other restoration projects in the watershed. The Federal Project Officer will also assist with obtaining state and federal permits, as needed. Finally, the Service is required to expend funds from the natural resource damage settlement for the Nyanza Chemical Waste Dump Superfund Site for restoration purposes (Restoration Plan and Environmental Assessment for the Nyanza Chemical Waste Dump Superfund Site). Project success requires substantial involvement by the Service to ensure that restoration objectives are met.
