Nicholas and Zachary Burt Memorial Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act Purpose: promote the installation of carbon monoxide alarms in residential homes and dwelling units across the United States in order to promote the health and public safety of citizens throughout the United States.

The purpose of the PSGP is to provide state, local and tribal governments with assistance to help , with the goal of preventing Carbon Monoxide deaths

Eligible applicants are entities that fall within one of the three definitions below. Eligible applicants can contract with other entities, including civic organizations, to achieve some aspects of their proposal. o State- means the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, Wake Island, Midway Island, Kingman Reef, Johnston Island, the Canal Zone, American Samoa, or the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. o Local Governments- political subdivisions of a state, which may include a county, municipality, city, town, township, local public authority, school district, special district, intrastate district, council of governments, or any agency or instrumentality of a local government. o Tribal Organization

How may assistance be used?
• Purchase and install compliant carbon monoxide alarms in the dwelling units of low-income families or elderly individuals, facilities that commonly serve children or the elderly (including childcare facilities, public schools, and senior centers);
• Develop and disseminatee training materials, instructors, and any other costs relating to the training sessions authorized under this subsection; or
• Educate the public about—
i. The risk associated with carbon monoxide as a poison; and
ii. The importance of proper carbon monoxide alarm use.
