NIAMS Clinical Trial Planning Cooperative Agreement (U34)
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will support planning cooperative agreements (U34) (hereafter called planning grants) for investigator-initiated clinical interventional trials. The U34 planning grant is designed to permit the necessary planning, design, and preparation of documentation prior to implementation of investigator-initiated clinical trials. Completion of the agreed upon milestones of a U34 planning grant is recommended prior to submission of a clinical trial through a U01 clinical trial implementation grant application that will support the actual implementation and conduct of the study. Consultation with NIAMS staff is strongly encouraged prior to the submission of the U34 application. The trials must be hypothesis-driven, milestone-defined, related to the research mission of the NIAMS and considered high priority by the Institute.
