This is NOT a request for applications; this is an announcement that an award has already been designated for the Connecticut Forest & Park Association for their work on New England National Scenic Trail Implementation. CFPA proposes to perform the following major activities: Serve as the principal point of contact for the NET in Connecticut, for volunteers, NET communities, and other trail partner organizations. Participate in volunteer and community meetings, as well as other meetings as needed. Provide organizational, public relations, marketing and website support for NET activities and events, including National Trails Day and annual volunteer trainings. Work with the AMC and NPS to set direction and goals and implement this annual work plan. Serve as the principal liaison with landowners for safe and protected trail passage, including private and corporate landowners, and the State of Connecticut. Maintain a Trail Layer for Connecticut through use of a GIS database and provide NPS access to database. Coordinate CFPA Trail Managers, volunteer trail crews and other volunteers to assure consistent trail monitoring, marking and sustainable trail practices. Plan and prioritize trail projects, including maintaining and updating trail signage as necessary through use and maintenance of a database. Coordinate annual volunteer trainings to promote safety and quality trail construction & maintenance. Oversee the budget and cooperative agreement with NPS. Provide support for financial tracking and related reporting, including a database to track volunteer work hours for annual VIP reporting. Provide support to the Connecticut land protection community in prioritizing and completing key trail land conservation projects, as appropriate. Identify and apply for federal, state, local and private funding on behalf of the goals and objectives of NET designation and the Blueprint for Trail Management.
