The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement is to research, monitor, and adaptively manage Chorizanthe orcuttiana and Piperia cooperi populations, ecological drivers, and habitat (including competing vegetation), and analyze results to better inform an understanding of the species' status and ecological requirements, per the statement of work. The research of Chorizanthe orcuttiana and Piperia cooperi populations and ecological drivers, combined with their adaptive management (1) provides assurance against their potential extinction, (2) allows for removal of ecological encumbrances on their long-term survival and expansion, and (3) allows for re-introduction of the species in other areas of available habitat. Within the regulatory framework, the proposed cooperative agreement would ensure compliance with the Endangered Species Act, Sikes Act, and NBPL Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan. Please see Statement of Work, provided as a separate attachment, for further details.
