This agreement is being implemented in order to evaluate the effects of altered hydrologic regime on forest succession in bottomland hardwood forests of Deep Fork NWR and whether these effects are related to observed declines in the forest and changing forest succession. The objective is to determine the current forest condition, establish permanent plots for long-term monitoring, and determine the relationship amoung forest conditions and landscape position factors such as elevation and proximity to river that hydrologic regime for a given location.
