Museum Small Craft Restoration Education partnership
San Francisco Maritime NHP has over 100 historic small craft within its museum collection. Several of these small craft are restored to a point where they can be exhibited on the water to the public. These boats need regular preservation maintenance, including restoration of deteriorated elements in order to remain seaworthy and in good condition. The objective of this Task Agreement is collaboration and joint participation in resource preservation projects and education projects to accomplish the public mission of the national park, as well as the compatible goals of the SFMNPA. The restoration of these historic vessels promotes the maritime skills necessary to train small craft technicians in the preservation of cultural artifacts.
