Joint, Local Youth Engagement Project

The NPS and MRCA will train and mentor youth employees in developing interpretive skills and presenting outreach programming, which will also include participating in first-time outdoor recreational experiences available in the agencies¿ park lands. Public programming will focus on groups from underserved communities in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties and will occur throughout the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and in sites throughout the greater LA area. The developed programs and recreational opportunities will encourage urban visitors to use park lands in a non-consumptive manner, help us facilitate resource and visitor management of park lands, and encourage continued use of public open spaces in their own immediate neighborhoods.
