FA-BLM New Mexico Fossil Recovery and Curation
Paleontologists, volunteers, students, adjunct researchers and other professional staff associated with the New Mexico Museum of Natural History (NMMNH&S) will continue to assist the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Regional Paleontologist, paleontology program coordinators and Field Office Managers in New Mexico to monitor, inventory and recover paleontological resources from public lands in New Mexico. These inventories and collections focus on a number of areas throughout the state. Paleontologists working at the NMMNH&S cover a broad range of vertebrate paleontology and geology expertise applicable to BLM Field Offices in New Mexico. Contextual data collected will be documented and submitted to the BLM for use in planning and resource management. Paleontological resources recovered will be curated into the NMMNH museum collections and used for research and educational programs.
