Essex National Heritage Area

 

This is NOT a request for applications; this is an announcement that an award has already been designated for the Essex National Heritage Commission, Inc., as it accomplishes its legislated goals through regional and local partnerships, coordinating activities throughout the Area for the purposes of: preserving and enhancing the AreaÂ’s heritage resources; educating the AreaÂ’s residents and visitors about the national and regional significance of these resources; rehabilitating and developing new resources such as the Border to Boston Trail; engaging individuals and organizations in resource stewardship; organizing regional and site specific events; and, in particular, developing programs with the National Park Service at Salem Maritime National Historic Site and Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site that bring increased attention, new audiences and expanded interpretation to the NPS sites and in the surrounding region.
