Engagine Urban Communities
Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is designated as a priority urban national wildlife refuge with responsibilities to provide high quality nature-based engagement of urban audiences both on and off refuge lands within the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan Area. The goal is to build a constituency of natural resource conservation supporters. Through this opportunity, the refuge seeks to enhance the visitor service operations of the refuge, primarily to engage refuge visitors and expand the refuge���s reach into the urban community. The refuge intends to reach the community through many avenues/topics, including, but not limited to, areas such as: diversity, equity, and inclusion; health and nature; public engagement; special events; volunteer development; youth engagement; and high quality on- and off-site nature-based education and recreation programming.
