Complete information, including the full RFI, can be found on the EERE Exchange website at https://eere-exchange.energy.gov. The U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy invites input from the public regarding a potential effort to facilitate laboratory, or open-ocean testing of prototype marine and hydrokinetic MHK devices. Details regarding the planned testing of prototype MHK devices for system integration, structural performance, and power performance are specifically requested; as well as discussion of the anticipated facility, site, instrumentation, expertise, and logistical support needed to advance the technical readiness of the device. The information gathered with this RFI will be used to inform strategic planning by the DOE to advance the marine and hydrokinetic industry. DOE is specifically interested in collecting information regarding existing MHK systems and the anticipated resources necessary to test and validate these early-stage technologies in either a laboratory or open-water environment. This is a Request for Information and not a Funding Opportunity Announcement; therefore, EERE is not accepting applications at this time.
