Cooperative Ecoystem Studies Unit, North Atlantic Coast CESU

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research assistance to assist in the restoration of native Lake Ontario fish species. This effort will involve the culture of several fish species, some of which have never before been reared under hatchery conditions. The effort will consist of standard fish culture practices and procedures as well as new adaptive procedures that meet the needs of the specific fish species being reared. This effort will include the capture of wild fish for egg collection, hatchery rearing, pre-release marking, and fish stocking. At least three fish species will be reared initially with additional native species added to the restoration program that are identified by management partner agencies that are viewed as important keystone species for restoring fish community resilience.
