Cooperative Ecoystem Studies Unit, Great Lakes-Northern Forest CESU

The US Geological Survey, Fort Collins Science Center is offering a funding opportunity for research designed to use modeling and empirical approaches to address the ultimate goal of conducting research that allows us to evaluate, compare, and improve our capacity to understand and forecast tropical forest responses to increased temperature at a variety of temporal and spatial scales. The specific aims of this research are: 1) enhance the scientific community¿s ability to successfully forecast how the biogeochemical cycles of different tropical forest types will respond to increased temperature; 2) facilitate the improvement of communication and understanding across disciplines in order to generate ideas and opportunities for future research proposals; and 3) help inform the hypotheses and measurements of a forthcoming field warming experiment in Puerto Rico.
