Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Californian CESU

The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a partner of the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) for the purpose of developing technologies to distribute geospatial data products, facilitate use of the geospatial data products through visualization and tabulation, and enhance capabilities for further science studies of patterns and trends of ecosystem carbon storage and greenhouse gas fluxes. The overall objective is to conduct a nationwide assessment, as well as continued monitoring, focusing on ecological carbon storage and GHG fluxes under the present conditions and future scenarios, as determined by key natural and anthropogenic processes including climate change, wildfire, other natural disturbances, land use, and land management. Many geospatial data products are produced as the result of the assessment. One requirement of the assessment is that a robust web-enabled data distribution site be established to facilitate delivery of the data products and applications of the science information.
