The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) intends to issue a cooperative agreement to Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission under the authority of Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) 15.512, Central Valley Project Improvement Act, Public Law 102-575, Section 3406(b)(1) and 3407(e). Estimated total amount of agreement is $8,143,552.00. Reclamation is providing $371,205.00 in Fiscal Year 2014. The purpose of this project is to is to mark and tag Chinook salmon at the Coleman and Nimbus hatcheries, and recover the tagged Chinook salmon from the ocean fisheries. The objectives of the project are to 1) evaluate the contribution rates of hatchery fish to Central Valley Chinook salmon populations, 2) monitor and evaluate the hatcheriesÂ’ Chinook salmon programs genetic and ecological effects on natural populations, 3) evaluate the success of restoration actions designed to increase natural production of Central Valley Chinook salmon, 4) estimate exploitation rates in ocean and inland fisheries, and 5) evaluate the impacts of straying on natural populations.
