The CCS program now funds the following kinds of activities: research, monitoring and inventory of resources; implementation of habitat improvement projects, protection or documentation of cultural resources; providing for enhanced recreational experiences; development and implementation of species conservation and recovery plans; environmental education; conservation projects for native plant communities and eradication of noxious and other weeds. BLM California will manage the program to implement a variety of important resource conservation projects that may include resource inventory, monitoring and research, environmental education, habitat and plant community restoration, cultural site protection, special status species management, recreation and OHV management. BLM California will work in collaboration with the Conservation Lands Foundation to protect, conserve and restore NLCS units in California. The CLF is the only nongovernmental organization dedicated solely to conserving the 28 million acres included in the NLCS on public lands administered by the BLM. The CLF mission is to protect, restore and expand the NLCS through education, public involvement and partnerships.
