Carr Pond enhancement for the Santa Cruz long-toed salamander and California tiger salamander
This award is to improve a pond in southern Santa Cruz County as breeding habitat for two listed salamander species. Improvements would include: removal of non-native trees and grasses surrounding the pond, removal of leaf litter and a non-functioning liner from the pond, revegetation of areas adjacent to the pond with native species, and monitoring of pond hydroperiod to determine if additional adaptive management measures are needed.
