BLM CA CESU Utah State University Aquatic Riparian Effect Mont Pilot Proj

The purpose of this project is to develop a quantitatively-driven monitoring framework to establish and track aquatic and riparian resource condition and trend over time. This information will be used to determine whether or not aquatic and riparian resource conditions are meeting management objectives. The project will test a sample design that allows information derived from data collected to be extrapolated over the entire grazing allotment while continuing targeted evaluations on known areas of concern. A phased multi-year implementation approach is proposed that will permit testing of sample design, any proposed stratifications, indicator measurement protocols, access considerations including potential season restrictions, and training/skill needs of field-going personnel.
