AZ BLM, Abandoned Mine Bat and Hazard Mitigation and Surveys

 

Project Objective: 1. The principal purpose of this project is to develop a relationship with organizations to assist BLM with the mitigation of public safety hazards associated with abandoned mines while protecting sensitive wildlife habitat for bats and owls. The public will benefit from this agreement by making the landscape safer for their recreational activities and protecting the habitat of wildlife they will experience will enjoying their recreational activities. 2. The Objectives of this agreement are to; a. Allow BLM access to subject matter experts to work side by side and train BLM employees in identification of and mitigation techniques for bat habitat at AML features. b. An additional objective is to provide the recreating public with a safe landscape to enjoy while having the enjoyment of wildlife that surveys and mitigation activities will protect. c. Work collaboratively with the BLM and partners to develop strategies to manage the mitigation for the benefit of the wildlife and public. d. Receive training from the subject matter experts to enhance the knowledge of the BLM on techniques to improve the mitigation of habitat and thus enhancing the landscape for the enjoyment of the recreating public. e. Receive assistance with installation of mitigation devices and training of BLM staff for future mitigation activities.
