Archeology, History, and Museum Collections Cultural Resource Program
Personnel from MRT and NPS will collaborate to increase scientific knowledge of the unique cultural resources of the Santa Monica Mountains, and to develop and refine techniques for their preservation. Much of this work serves to provide baseline documentation of cultural resources as required by NPS policies in order to provide park management with critical data to assist in management decisions and park operations. Baseline data on cultural resources are also needed for consultation with the State Historic Preservation Office and other regulatory agencies, and with Native American tribal organizations regarding park undertakings and operations that potentially impact cultural resources.
